Ready For A Little DIY Marketing? 4 Things To Keep In Mind When Marketing Your Business

So, you are brave enough to do your own marketing. You aren’t waiting for your marketing budget to increase or for the perfect agency to come up with the perfect plan. You are doing it, and you’re doing it now! The research is complete, but you are beginning to realize marketing is far more difficult than you ever imagined. With so many sites telling you to do this and not that, it’s easy to get lost and even easier to forget the basics.

Here’s a little refresher:

1. Keep your site fresh. I know this may seem obvious, but did you know that 45% of businesses still don’t have a website? So, remembering to keep your site fresh may be obvious to some business owners, but definitely not to enough. If you don’t have a site already, please get one!

Templates

Whether you are looking to create a new site or update an old one, it’s important to choose a template that best suits your business. Sure, you need to choose a design that’s visually appealing, but when going for what looks best to you, it will be easy to forget to choose a template that helps you accomplish business goals.

Let’s say you’re a personal trainer. You will need to choose a template that provides the option to place an appointment form on your site. If you’re a makeup artist, you’ll need a template that allows plenty of image uploads for you to showcase your work. Remember, the layout of your site has to make sense for your business. Your customers will surely notice. If your site has a template that not only looks awesome but adequately suits the needs of the business, it will also suit the needs of your visitors and they will return!

Content

Always keep your content fresh! Doing so will help with SEO and will keep your visitors engaged … both can lead to an increase in profits. In fact, content marketing generates approximately 3x as many leads as traditional marketing and costs 62% less.

2. Be creative. While traditional marketing strategies are definitely not useless, stepping outside the box when it comes to generating leads will get you noticed faster. It is so amazing to see some of the campaigns various businesses launch and many times creativity is the key to conversion. Don’t be afraid to use some of your favorites to inspire your next campaign.

3. Use analytics. Whether your site comes with analytics tools or you subscribe to a different service, be sure to pay close attention to the data you receive. Each visitor to your site carries a unique set of data and when an analytics tool turns the data into a comprehensive report, you’ll be able to see how your site is effective and where it needs improvement. You’ll also be able to see where referrals originate and which platforms generate the most traffic and sales. Being armed with such knowledge will allow you to better allocate time and money for your next marketing campaign.

4. Keep in touch. Be open to feedback and give customers the opportunity to provide it. You can allow comments or discussions to be posted directly on your site or you can provide a different avenue. Either way, learning what customers need and want will undoubtably help with your next campaign.

Hope all goes well!
